From Painting to a Sports Brand: Making an Idea Real

Many of us remember 2020 as a difficult time. The world stopped because of the Corona crisis. The pandemic and lockdowns kept us home for two years. While the streets were quiet, a new story started in my studio in Humenné, Slovakia. I decided to use this time to paint more. The lockdown gave me space to create and the courage to dream of something more than just a painting canvas.

First Amateur Steps: Struggles and Hard Work

At the start, I had a lot of energy but I was also looking for the right way. The first products I made were dresses. As a man, I never wore a dress and I did not know how to make them. I had to trust a seamstress. But soon, I found a big problem.

The seamstress did things her way. She was good at sewing, but she did not understand my art. For her, it was just work. My complex patterns did not look good. This taught me that in designer fashion, you cannot make compromises. I tried four different seamstresses until I found the right one.

Finding Models and Not Giving Up

When the dresses were finished, I needed photos. As a man, I could not model them, and they do not look good on a mannequin. I asked many girls on Facebook. I did not worry when they said no. I just took it as a lesson. I knew I would find someone. I was not asking for a date; I just wanted to take photos of the clothes. In the end, a few girls helped me. We made the first photos that started the brand. It is important to never give up.

When Art Meets Technical Skill

Later, I met an experienced tailor. He made sportswear, like hoodies and jackets. He understood the technical side very well. I told him my vision: I wanted to make sports jackets using my paintings. We made the first four jackets together. They were full of colors and energy. I started using waterproof softshell. It is now my favorite material because it is good for any weather.

Improvements and Innovation

Since those first models, LEMINX jackets have improved a lot. Every season, we listen to feedback. We added better pockets and zippers. We also added new patterns and made the jackets more comfortable.
